Training Programme on Management of Insect Pests in Tomato under Changing Climate Scenario

 

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib, Mizoram organized a two days Training Programme on "Management of Insect Pests in Tomato under Changing Climate Scenario" during 8th to 9th February 2017 at Kawnpui Village, Kolasib District. The programme began at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. T. Boopathi, Scientist SS (Agricultural Entomology), ICAR, Kolasib wishing a warm welcome to the participants of the programme. Dr. S. B Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Kolasib in his speech emphasized on the importance of the insect pests of tomato and their management. He also briefed the participants on the causes of climate change and its effect on the crop production and development of new insect pests causing economic damage to the crops and their management under changing climate scenario. Ms. Angela Laltanpui, SRF (NICRA), ICAR, Kolasib delivered vote of thanks with which the programme was concluded. Later, technical session was held after tea break which witnessed three presentations from ICAR Scientists and Researchers. Dr. T. Boopathi, Scientist SS (Agricultural Entomology) delivered lecture on "Management of Fruit Flies in Tomato under Changing Climate Scenario" while Miss. Angela Laltanpui, SRF (NICRA) delivered lecture on "Management of Insect Pests in Tomato under Changing Climate Scenario". Mr. Vanlalmangaiha, SRF (AICRP Spices) delivered lecture on "Management of Fruit Borer in Tomato under Changing Climate Scenario". Around 100 farmers from Kolasib district attended the training programme.
