ICAR AP Centre Conducted Training and Inputs Distribution in Namsai and Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh.
Under the rabi campaign on pulses and oilseeds, a team of scientists, ICAR AP Centre conducted day long training and critical inputs distribution in two districts of Namsai and Longding, Arunachal Pradesh respectively. In the newly bifurcated district of Namsai from Lohit district, the training programme was conducted on the 9th November, 2016 in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Chokham, Namsai district. The purpose of the training programme was highlighted by Dr. Debasish Sasmal, PC i/c KVK Namsai. In the technical programme, Sh. Letngam Touthang, Scientist (Plant Breeding) delivered lecture on Seed Production Techniques of Pea and encourage the farmers to be part of Participatory seed production System. Wherein, lecture on the Production Techniques of Toria under rainfed conditions was given by Sh. Badapmain Makdoh, Scientist (Agronomy). The farmers were enlightened about the huge potentiality of Namsai district and adjoining valley of Lohit district to be a food basket of Arunachal Pradesh which was followed by distributions of seeds.
The second training under the said campaign was conducted at Niaunu village, Longding district on the 11th November, 2016. As per the request and concerned of Deputy Commissioner of Longding district, the training programme was conducted with special emphasis on rain water harvesting techniques through jalkund. A day long training programme was conducted in the presence of Circle Officer’s), Longding District and Dr. R. Bhagawati, Joint Direcrtor (ICAR AP Centre, Basar). The Joint Director enlightened the farmers about the purpose of the training, importance of pulses and oilseeds and rain harvesting techniques in brief. In the technical part, Sh. Letngam Touthang, Scientist (Plant Breeding) delivered lecture on Production Techniques of Pea and Nursery Management Techniques of rabi vegetables. Sh. Badapmain Makdoh, Scientist (Agronomy) delivered lecture on importance of rain water harvesting, Techniques for Preparation of Jalkund and Packages and Practices of Toria. Wherein, lecture on Integrated Pests and Diseases Management of various crops was delivered by Dr. Anup Chandra, Scientist (Entomology). The programme ended with the concluding remarks by Circle Officer, Longding District and distribution of rabi pulses, oilseeds, vegetables seeds, agril. Implements, pesticides, Silpaulin for Jalkund and Sprayers to the participants. In both the districts of Namsai and Londing the resource poor farmers were elated and thankful to ICAR AP Centre for timely reaching out to them with necessary critical inputs inspite of the remote location and ensure future cooperation as well.
