Inauguration of Poultry Hatchery Unit in Bilkhawthlir, Mizoram under TSP on 11th March 2021
Poultry Hatchery Unit (2 nos.) of 600 eggs capacity setter cum hatcher incubator are provided by ICAR Mizoram Centre to the Village Organisation, Bilkhawthlir North was inaugurated by Dr. H. Lalthlangliana, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib district on 11th March 2021 in the presence of Dr. I Shakuntala, Joint Director, ICAR Mizoram Centre, Kolasib, Mr. Ngen Thianlala, BDO, Bilkhawthlir, Dr. Engkunga Chhangte, DVO, Kolasib, and Dr. Lalhruaipuii, Scientist, ICAR Mizoram Centre, Kolasib, officials and farmers. Dr. H. Lalthlangliana appreciated that ICAR Mizoram Centre could provide the hatchery unit to Village Organisation, Bilkhawthlir North and mentioned that not only determination and hardwork, but advance scientific inputs are required to become successful. He also expressed that the unit would help in working towards self sufficiency in eggs and poultry meat production and urges the farmers to utilize it at the most and work with complete devotion. Dr. I Shakuntala emphasized the importance of quality chick production and adequate supply to poultry farming community will help in nutritional security as well as for subsidiary income for the family. Dr. Engkunga Chhangte advises the SHG members to utilize the hatchery properly for the purpose it is meant to be and asked the farmers to work with an aim to grow and become successful. Mr. Ngen Thianlala, BDO, Bilkhawthlir explained the process of development of infrastructure for the hatchery and suggested that the hatchery will be used properly for the benefit of the farming community. The event was coordinated by Dr. Lalhruaipuii and the hatchery units were provided under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) activity of ICAR Mizoram Centre, Kolasib. During the event chick guard, brooder, debeaking machine and 750 chicks were also provided to the VO, Bilkhawthlir North SHG.
