Interaction meeting cum sensitization workshop of In-Charges, ITM Units under NRM Division held at ICAR, Umiam

 

An interaction meeting-cum-sensitization workshop of the In-Charges, ITM Units under NRM Division was held for two days (16th – 17th march, 2016) at ICAR, Umiam. The workshop was attended by ITMU member Secretaries/Scientists of eight NRM Institutes under ICAR viz., CRIDA, Hyderabad; CAZRI, Jodhpur; IIFSR, Modipuram; IIWM, Bhubaneswar; IISS, Bhopal; IISWC, Dehradun; NBSS & LUP, Nagpur and NIASM, Baramati, along with some local NGOs and scientists of ICAR-RC for NEH Region. Chairing the occasion, Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, expressed that the bio-resources found in diverse ecological systems in India should be shared with one another. In his formal address, Guest of Honour, Dr. S. Mauria, PS, IP & TM Unit, ICAR Hqrs., remarked that “NRM is the goldmine and not Horticulture” and stressed on the importance of understanding the three guidelines of IP & TM Unit viz., the Orange, White and Green books and suggested to check out the best performing PME Cells among the ICAR institutes, especially that of IISR, Calicut. Earlier, Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Member Secretary, ITM/ZTM Units, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, gave a welcome address to the dignitaries, highlighting the usefulness of the workshop in achieving the better effectiveness towards the commercialization of potential technologies developed by different ICAR Institutes. A formal vote of thanks from Dr. A. Sen, Head, Animal Health Division, concluded the inaugural session. During the technical session, which was chaired by Dr. S. Mauria, the Member Secretaries/Scientists of NRM Division Institutes shared their respective achievements in relation to IPR and technology transfer and the difficult issues thereof and also their doubts and uncertainties regarding the three guidelines. Dr. Vikram Singh, Scientist, IP & TM Unit, ICAR Hqrs., gave a presentation on the analysis and impressions of IP & TM activities in ICAR and showed the performance of the NRM Division in the said activities which created the need to organise this meeting. Discussions among the Member Secretaries led to the finalisation of the action plan which included the development of a close and intimate network among the Member Secretaries through email, timely and proper reporting in the correct format and take up target oriented IP & TM activities in a serious note. On the second day, the visiting delegates were taken to the different labs, facilities and experimental farms of ICAR RC for NEHR, Umiam. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Sinha.
