Training on IFS conducted by KVK Anjaw on “Integrated Farming Systems for Enhanced Resource Use Efficiency and Livelihood Security of Small and Marginal Farmers”
One day training on IFS titled “Integrated Farming Systems for Enhanced Resource Use Efficiency and Livelihood Security of Small and Marginal Farmers” at Goilang on 22th September, 2015. All together 33 farmers including farm women and rural youths attended the training programme.
The Integrated Farming System (IFS) is an economically viable option for enhancing farm productivity and profitability, reducing environmental degradation, improving the quality life of poor marginal and resource poor farmers while maintaining agricultural sustainability and providing employment opportunities for the farmers year round, said Khoisnam Naveen, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) of KVK Anjaw, Arunachal Pradesh at the training programme.
He also stressed on motivating farmers for adoption and integration various enterprises to elevate their income generation. Integrating various agricultural enterprises such as cropping, livestock rearing, bee-keeping, fishery and forestry will lead to resource-saving practices that aim to achieve acceptable profits, while minimising the negative effects of intensive farming.
Later, Senpon Ngomle (SMS, Plant Protection), Soibam Peter (SMS, Social Sciences) and Prasanta Mahanta (Farm Manager), also spoke on different aspects regarding mushroom cultivation, economics and fisheries of IFS system.
