ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills introduced Pengba variety of fish in Garo Hills, Meghalaya
On 11th of January 2019, ICAR-KVK,West Garo Hills in collaboration with Division of Fisheries, ICAR Research Complex, Umiam has introduced rare variety of fish species called Pengba from Manipurfor the first time in Garo Hills, Meghalaya at NICRA (National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture) village, Marapara in the presence of Dr. S.K. Das, Principal Scientist & Head, Shri S. Gojendro Singh, Scientist and Shri Alakesh Das, Technical Officer, Division of Fishery, ICAR, Umaim and officers from ICAR, KVK, West Garo Hills. This fish variety is being breed at ICAR Research Complex, Umiam by the division of fishery. The fingerlings were released to two beneficiaries, Mrs. Pronilla M. Sangma and Mrs. Jetmoni M. Sangma of Marapara village.
