ICAR,KVK, West Garo Hills celebrated “National Productivity week”, 12th - 18th Feb 2019.
ICAR, KVK, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya celebrated “National Productivity Week” in different adopted villages and also in KVK campus w.e.f 12th -18th Feb 2019. As a part of the celebration, KVK, West Garo Hills organized training programmes for the farmers, farm women and rural youths. On 12.02.2019 one day training programme under Home Science was conducted by Smt. Virginia Thabah on the topic of “Increase income generation through Value addition of tamarind”. As tamarind (Emli) is easily and locally available in village having good taste, so the farmers were taught on preparation of two different products, tamarind pickle and tamarind candy. The products were demonstrated and 11 numbers of trainees participated through learning by doing in the training programme. On 14.02.2019, as a part of the programme, Dr. Joyoshree Mahanta also conducted training programme on “Cultivation of mushroom using paddy straw” in which 15 numbers of farmers attended the training programme in KVK campus. On 15.02.2019 one day training was also conducted by shri. Arun Kumar Singh on “Benefits and importance of biofertilizers” by delivering lectures on the application, methods and doses of biofertilizers. Soil Health Card for 30 farmers was also distributed on the same day. Dr. Sagarika Borah conducted one day awareness programme on 16.02.19 on “Circular Economy for Productivity and Sustainability in Livestock Production System” with the participation of 24 numbers of women farmers in Aminda Rangsa village. The programme was concluded on 18.02.2019 with 20 numbers of farmers along with Project Director from ATMA.
