Goat health cum awareness programme conducted

Under the institute project “Conservation and propagation of indigenous goat germplasm of North eastern hill region of India” the institute organised a Goat health cum awareness programme on 10th February, 2021 in the Umden village of Ri Bhoi district. During the programme around 80 indigenous goats were dewormed and mineral mixtures were distributed among the goat rearers. The goat rearers were encouraged to take up scientific goat rearing in terms of proper feeding, housing, deworming, vaccination and health care to reduce mortality and to enhance the profitability from goat rearing. During the interaction, the goat rearers highlighted the menace of ectoparasites as one of the problem they face with goat rearing. They were provided with remedial measures for the same. The programme was organised by Dr. Sourabh Deori, and Dr. Samir Das, Scientists of the institute. Finally, the goat rearers thanked the Director of the institute for organising such a programme for their benefit.
