KVK Hailakandi Organised Skill Development/Training On Freshwater Carp Culture.
Upliftment and livelihood enhancement of rural communities especially women is one of the concerns of everyone at present. Keeping the above facts in mind and realizing the employment generation scope through fishery, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Hailakandi, ICAR organized training/skill development program on Freshwater Carp Culture: An Innovative Approach funded by the National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad from 26th-30th March 2017 at KVK premises. The program started with inauguration by the Dr Sk.Md.A.Rahman, Senior Scientist & Head KVK Hailakandi who welcome the trainees and urge them to take advantage of the program and learn whatever that is being taught during the 5 day training. During this program Bankitkupar Mukhim SMS (Fisheries Science) gave a detail lecture various topics on Scope and Prospect of Freshwater carp culture in Assam with special reference to Hailakandi District, importance of site selection, water source and topography in freshwater fish culture, species selection for fish culture, appropriate stocking density for fish culture, feed and feeding management of major carps, health management in Aquaculture, utilization of backyard pond for fish production for income generation, importance of Soil Health Card, soil analysis. During the last day Bankitkupar Mukhim SMS (Fisheries Science) give a detail lecture for the trainess so as to make them aware on NFDB assistance/subsidies for fishers/farmers/entrepreneurs, role of bank and their financial support for development of fisheries, and an exercise on preparation of NFDB project proposals and bankable projects. The farmers were then taken to KVK farm for exposure visit and to show them about the different activities that KVK is doing for the betterment of the farming community
