Foundation Day of KVK Ri-Bhoi Cum Ex- Trainees’ Meet Celebrated
KVK-Ri-Bhoi celebrated foundation day cum ex-trainees’ meet on 3rd August 2017, at the conference hall, KVK Ri Bhoi.
Dr. B.C. Deka, Director, ATARI, Zone VII, ICAR, Umiam, Chief Guest, express his happiness on its foundation day and opine that even though KVK Ri Bhoi is still a relatively ‘Young’ but had done tremendously for last two years for the farming community to improve the livelihood of the farmers of the district. He emphasized upon the need for adoption of latest technologies for enhancing the farm income. He also urged the farmers to have their own personal bank account and to get governments benefits directly. He hopes that the KVK Ri-Bhoi will be the model KVK for Meghalaya in the years to come with all facilities.
Dr. S. V. Ngachan, Director ICAR, Research Complex for NEH Region Umiam, Chairman, appreciated the efforts being made by KVK for upscaling the latest technologies for the welfare of farming community in the district. He cited an example where in prior to the establishment of the KVK, no tomatoes, cucumber, French bean and high yielding varieties of crops were grown in the district. It was through the untiring efforts of the KVK Ri Bhoi that such cultivation are now quite a common sight in the district. He further encouraged the farmers of the district to register for Aadhaar Cards for receiving the benefit of various government schemes.
At the outset of the programme, Dr. M. Mokidul Islam, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Ri Bhoi ICAR, Umiam welcomed the Dignitaries as well as the farmers of the district to the programme and highlighted the achievements of KVK since its inception.
Dr. Arnab Sen, Nodal Officer KVKs, ICAR, Umiam congratulated the KVK on its foundation day and express his delight with regard to the income generating activities for the farmers which have carried out by the KVK Ri Bhoi.
During the programme various inputs like Assam Hill Goats ( 8 numbers to 4 beneficiaries) and water pump sets (2 numbers to 2 beneficiaries) were distributed. Farmers-Scientist Interaction programme was attended by All HODs, Scientists and staffs of ICAR Umiam and about 50 farmers of the district. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks address by Dr. Popiha Bordoloi, SMS Soil Science, KVK Ri Bhoi, ICAR, Umiam.
