Exposure visit of Rural Youth organized by ICAR - KVK Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya
An exposure visit to award winning AAU-KVK Kamrup and AAU-HRS, Kahikuchi, Assam was organized recently by ICAR - KVK Ribhoi, Meghalaya. A group of ten educated rural youth were selected on the basis of their interest on horticultural crops for undertaking the exposure visit by Dr. Utpal Barua, SMS Horticulture. During the entire tour period, the participants had thorough knowledge sharing and interaction with the scientists of HRS and KVK on soil less tomato cultivation under polyhouse, mass propagation of Assam Lemon through leaf bud cutting; cultivation of gerbera, anthurrihum and dendrobium orchid under polyhouse. Techniques of rapid multiplication in black pepper, guava meadow orcharding, multistoreyed cropping, grafting, nutrient management with vermicomposting and azolla culture were also demonstrated.
