KVK RI-BHOI Coordinated Inter-State Exposure Visit Cum Training Programme

A six days inter-state exposure visit cum training programme was organised by KVK Anjaw in collaboration with ATMA Anjaw for the farmers from Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh to visit ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region and KVK Ri-Bhoi during 17-22nd October, 2016. The programme was coordinated by KVK Ri-Bhoi. The team was lead by Shri S. Peter Singh, SMS (Social Science) & Shri Prasanta Mahanta, Farm Manager, KVK Anjaw. A total of 20 farmers from different villages of Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh were participated. During the inauguration, Dr. Mokidul Islam, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Ri-Bhoi in his speech welcomed all the farmers and gave a brief introduction of all the Subject Matter Specialist of KVK, Ri-Bhoi and their specialisation to the farmers.  He also briefed about the basic information on the work done in KVK and objectives of the KVK. The inauguration programme was followed by lecture on Nursery management, disease and pest management for horticulture crops and vegetables, Poultry, dairy and pig farming During the 6 days programme , the farmers were visited the ICAR Poultry farm, Piggery farm, Goat farm, Rabbit farm, Agronomy farm and Horticulture farm for getting exposure on different scientific farming technologies that can be adopted by them to increase their farm  productivity and income for livelihood improvement. Lectures on vermicomposting, integrated farming system, livestock management, mushroom production were also delivered. A visit to Rural Resource & Training Centre (RRTC-NGO), Umran was also made to showcase the activities undertaken by them for entrepreneurship development for farmers, farm women and rural youth. A video showing programme on different technologies was also made at KVK Ri-Bhoi for the visiting farmers of Anjaw district. A farmers’-scientists’ interaction programme was also organised where various problems of farmers were asked to scientist for better solution at farm level which might help for higher productivity of crops and livestock. In last day, a valedictory function was organised to distribute certificate to farmers, coordinators, experts, and resource persons by Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya in presence of HODs & Scientist of ICAR Umiam . The programme was ended with vote of thanks by Shri Prasanta Mahanta, Farm Manager, KVK Anjaw
