Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) visits ICAR NEH, Umiam, Meghalaya
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) and Sh. Sunil Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, DARE/ICAR visited ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya during 13-14th May 2016. A reviews and interactive meeting of the Finance heads of ICAR Institutes of Eastern Zone was held on 13th May and with the Scientists & Staff of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam on the following day. About 100 participants comprising of Directors, Finance Officers, Joint Directors, Heads, Scientists and technical staff from various ICAR Institutes of Eastern region of India participated in the financial review meeting. In his interaction with scientists and staff, Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR urged upon the employees to create a healthy working atmosphere where each employee works with full dedication so that the Institute as a whole emerges as one of the best in the Nation. He emphasized on team work and stressed on the need to bring onboard the last employee of the Institute. The Secretary DARE & DG, ICAR stressed upon the scientific community to focus its research efforts towards the food, nutrition and environmental security of the region. He further said that this Institute is a unique one where research on all the components of agriculture and allied subjects are taken up which benefits the institute in its overall efforts towards agricultural development. He urged upon the ICAR institutes to identify immediately transferable technologies which will be taken up by the ICAR headquarters to disseminate at a much larger scale and dimension with the involvement of ministry. The ICAR institute should develop some structured mechanism for technology transfer involving KVKs for achieving desired goal. He emphasized the fact that there are many constraints which the region faces but in spite of this institute has come up in many areas which is highly appreciable. He visited the fields and the laboratories of the Institute during his visit and interacted with the research, technical and field staffs. The Secretary DARE & DG, ICAR also visited NBPGR regional station, Umiam and ATARI, Umiam on 14 May, 2016.
