Demonstration Programme under TSP conducted at Mawlangir, Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills

   A demonstration programmes under the TSP project entitled, “Livelihood improvement of farmers through interventions of modern agricultural technologies” of the institute was conducted on 11th March, 2021 in the village of Mawlangir, Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills. The region is having varied local tree fruits and spices wherein some of the participants were already into processing and marketing of these local produce. The participants were sensitized on the prospects of food processing by capturing the seasonal glut production, procurement of appropriate processing tools and equipment and the ways to avail government subsidized loans on need basis. Also, the participants were eager to venture to mushroom seed production due to rising/high demand and non-availability of mushroom seed when required which hampers the consistent production and supply to targeted markets. Hands-on practical of oyster mushroom cultivation was also demonstrated. The programme was attended by 25 tribal men and women. The programme was organized by Drs. SR Assumi, TR Borah, S Patra and P Paul.
