Demonstration Programme under TSP conducted at Laban Saro, Umroi, Ri Bhoi
A demonstration programme was conducted on 9th March, 2021 in the village of Laban Saro, Umroi, Ri Bhoi under TSP on the topic, “Food processing - A way to uplift rural livelihood”. The programme was attended by 28 numbers of tribal women, some of whom were in to food preservation venture. A lecture was also delivered on the appropriate methods of products filling and sealing in packets, requirement of packet information and certification of products to be marketed. Hands-on practical for processing of tomato into chutney, sauces and pickle making from seasonal vegetables were demonstrated. During the interaction session, their products were examined and compared with the scientific method of processing with adequate inputs for modification. The women participants expressed their desire to take forward food processing for the economic improvement of their household/families. The programme was coordinated by Drs. SR Assumi, TR Borah, S Patra and P Paul.
