Curtain Raising of ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav’ Programme in Sikkim
The flagship programme of the Prime Minister of India, “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” has been officially launched in the College of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology (CAEPHT), Sikkim which is a constituent college of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal on the 19th September, 2015.
Dr. R. S. Paroda, Former Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR and the Chairman, Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences while addressing the ‘Kisan Gosthi’, stressed that India should be made “Krishak Pradhan Desh” instead of ‘Krishi Pradhan Desh”. He said that ‘Farmers first’ should be the motto of all activities. Dr. Paroda said that Progressive farmers must be exposed to the industries for the better linkages with the secondary economical activities and urged to give more emphasis on the small farmers for all the activities under the government institutions.
Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CAU highlighted the technological achievements of the university and given emphasis on the adoption of these successful technologies in Sikkim. He also emphasized on the close linkages between the University and the ‘Kisan Gosthi’.
On this occasion, two publications written by Professor M. Premjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, CAU and Prof. P.K. Srivatsva, Dean, CAEPHT, Sikkim were also released.
The Director of Instruction, CAU, all the Deans of the constituent colleges of CAU, the Director of ICAR-NRC for Orchids, Director of Agriculture, Sikkim, Officials of State Government, Sikkim; Programme Coordinators of KVKs under CAU, progressive farmers of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and farmers’ representatives of all the districts of Sikkim were present in the meeting.
