Celebration of world soil day and distribution of soil health card by KVK West Siang and ICAR, A. P. Centre, Basar.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Siang District and ICAR AP Centre, Basar, Arunachal Pradesh centre today on 5th December, 2015 celebrated world soil day and distributed soil health card to the farmers of West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The soil health cards were prepared covering the soil tests on pH, five macronutrients (Organic carbon, Available Nitrogen, Available Phosphorus, Available Potassium and Available Sulphur) and five micronutrients (Boron, Iron, Copper, Manganese and Zinc) and bases on the results obtained specific recommendations were given for each soil samples in that cards.

The programme was started with the welcome address by Dr. Moloy Sarmah Baruah, In-charge Programme Coordinator, KVK West Siang followed by the speeches from Shri Tago Basar, former Director of Agriculture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, who was present on that occasion as a chief guest and Shri Toli Bam, Sub- Divisional Agricultural Officer, Basar, West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh and guest of honour on that said programme. The inaugural session was ended with an address from Dr. Raghuveer Singh, In-charge, Joint Director, ICAR, A. P. Centre, Basar, Arunachal Pradesh where he emphasized on the importance of soil testing and soil health card for sustainable farming.

After the inaugural session, technical session was started with an interactive power point presentation by Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Scientist, Soil Physics/ Soil Water Conservation, ICAR, A. P. Centre, Basar, Arunachal Pradesh on the topic of “Soil Health and Soil Nutrient Management ”  to the participants. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Rita Nongthombam, SMS, Plant Breeding, KVK, West Siang.
