Celebration of Communal Harmony Campaign Week Held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya

 

In accordance with the ongoing “Communal Harmony Campaign Week” all over the country, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam also celebrated the same from 19th November to 24th November 2018. The programme was inaugurated on 19th November; the inaugural session witnessed an extempore speech competition among the staffs of the institute. The closing day witnessed an essay and a debate competition. The essay competition was themed “Unity in diversity”- a pre cursor of Communal Harmony and the topic for the debate was “Is politics responsible for communal harmony in India”. There was participation from the all the sections and division of the institute. In-between the week various in-house programmes organised to spread the awareness among the office staffs. The Flag Day was marked on the 22nd of November were flags were distributed and donations were collected for the staffs to be donated to the national foundation for war widows and children. The motive to organise such programmes is to create awareness among the staffs about the Communal Harmony. The valedictory function of the two days programme was celebrated today at Dr. D. N. Borthakur Conference hall of the institute with prize distribution and high tea.
