KVK Ri-Bhoi Organised Field Day on Promotion of Bio-fertilizer with HYV Paddy (RCM-7)
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam organised a Field day on promotion of biofertilizer in paddy (var. RCM-7) for higher productivity at Kdonghulu village on 9th November 2016. In Ri-Bhoi district application of organic as well as inorganic fertilizer has been very limited mainly due to lack of awareness of recent developments in agriculture and due to economic backwardness of rural tribal farmers. The farmers get lower yield due to improper fertility management. The objective of the programme was to popularize and showcase the biofertilizer technology (Azospirillum and PSB) in paddy with high yielding variety RCM-7 for higher productivity. About 21 farmers, farm women attended the programme from Kdonghulu and nearby villages. The farmers were very happy with the organic production technology of paddy. Many farmers from within the village and nearby villages are expected to adopt the technology at their field next season. The farmers expected to get higher yield as compared to the traditional practices without application of any sources of nutrients.
