Farmers’ Sensitization Programmes Conducted by ICAR, Basar at Roing

 

Basar, the 22nd  Oct.,2014 : The team led by Dr R. Bhagawati, Joint Director, Dr Doni Jini, Scientist (Vety. Science) and Shri A. Kirankumar Singh, i/c Programme Coordinator KVK West Siang, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, A. P. Centre, Basar conducted different programmes at Roing. On 19th October, an “Awareness Cum Animal Health Camp” under TSP was organised at Rukmo Village in collaboration with the KVK Balek with Dr T. J. Ramesha, Programme Coordinator and Dr Dipankar, SMS (Animal Science), KVK Lower Dibang Valley in which around 100 animals (cattle, goat, pig) and poultry birds were treated and distributed the medicines required for health care and management. On 20th October, the team visited the Adali Village to monitor and evaluate the defects made by Shri Jikko Lingi in constructing the piggery shed. Later, a “Farmers Awareness Training Programme on Soil Moisture Conservation under Climate Changed Situation” under NICRA was conducted at KVK Lower Dibang Valley with an interesting and enthusiastic interaction with the participating farmers. Later, the team had a diagnostic field visit in different villages of Balek, Meka and Miuli Aati on problems in orange orchards. During the visit the team observed the problems of citrus decline due to citrus trunk borer, bark eating caterpillar and fruit fly infestation in most of the farmers field. Lastly, the team visited Smt Sipa Miuli’s orange orchard at Miuli Aati in which the fruit fly infestation was the major problem and control measures were advocated following the proper calendar of operations.
