BRAINSTORMING SESSIONON CLIMATE RESILIENT TECHNOLOGIES FOR IMPROVING LIVELIHOOD IMPROVEMENT OF FARMERS OF MIZORAM UNDER NATIONAL MISSION FOR SUSTAINABLE HILL ECOSYSTEM-TASK FORCE 6.

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre organized brainstorming session climate resilient technologies for improving livelihood Improvement of farmers of Mizoram under National Mission for sustainable Hill Ecosystem (Task Force 6) funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government.of India at conference hall Directorate of Agriculture, Crop Husbandry (C.H). Seventy states Government. Official from different line department attended the programme including Scientist and Technical Officer from ICAR, Mizoram Centre. Lt. Col (Rtd.) Z.S. Zuala, Parliamentary Secretary (Home, Agriculture and Rural Development) Government of Mizoram graced the programme as the chief guest. Dr. C. Lalzarliana, Director (Crop Husbandry), Department of Agriculture was the Guest of honor in the programme. In the inaugural session, Dr. S. B. Singh (Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre) chairman of the session gave the welcome speech. Dr. K. P. Mahaparta, Sr. Scientist (forestry), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya explained the major objectives of the project and the major thrust areas.

Dr. C. Lalzarliana emphasized the adverse impact of the present weather aberration on the agricultural scenario of Mizoram. He suggested the essentiality for demonstration for site specific technologies for promotion of diversified agriculture in Mizoram. He also mentioned the state Government initiatives to increase the farm resilience against the weather aberrations under different development scheme by the State Government. Pu Z.S. Zuala focused on maintaining soil health, current measures to reduce top soil erosion from the hill slopes, Jhum Improvement and controlling deforestation as well as bamboo slashing. He emphasized the need for crop diversification for the Jhum farmers by strengthen the infrastructure of different KVKs. Mr.Zuala assured the cooperation from the state agriculture department in implementing the NMSHE programme The Inaugural session ended with vote of thanks from Dr. Saurav Saha, (Scientist-Agril Physics; Nodal Officer NMSHE Mizoram Centre). After inaugural session, two technical sessions were organized with 12 subjective lectures from ICAR and different line departments The officials of the state department participated and interacted with the project which held to established the better coordination with the state line department.
