Awareness programme on Scientific Goat Rearing organised
One day awareness programme on “Scientific Goat Rearing” was conducted under the institute project “Conservation and propagation of indigenous goat germplasm of North eastern hill region of India” on 11th March, 2021 at Laitsohpliah, East Khasi Hills under the Khatarshnong Laitkroh C and RD Block, Laitkroh. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Meghalaya. Twenty goat rearers of the village attended the programme. They were made aware about different scientific management practices in goat rearing like deworming, vaccination, health care, nutrition, housing etc. During the programme each farmer were provided with mineral mixtures, anthelmintics and antidiarrheals for healthy management of the goats. The programme was organised by Dr. Sourabh Deori, Scientist and P.I. of the project and attended by the Dr. Lofty Tyngkan, A.H and Vety. Officer of the block. He spoke about the benefits of goat rearing in the state of Meghalaya and encouraged the farmers to take up scientific management methods to increase the income from the goat rearing. Finally, Mr. Augustine, Secretary of the village proposed the vote of thanks. He specially thanked the Director of the institute for organising such programme for the benefit of the goat rearers.
