Brief report on Farmers awareness program organized jointly by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya & National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur on 29th March, 2016
A one day awareness program was organized on the 29th March 2016 at Raliang, Jaintia Hills, District on “The Importance of Agricultural Marketing” jointly by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya & National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur. The awareness program was attended by 89 participants who are farmers from the above mentioned village. The Headman of the village gave a welcome speech at the beginning of the program which was followed by Dr. Aniruddha Roy, Scientist (Agril. Economics), Division of Social Sciences, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam who had sensitized the farmers on the importance of agricultural marketing in the region. Dr. Sandip Patra, Scientist (Entomology) had highlighted the role of insect-pest Management for better quality produce that can fetch good price in the market. Dr. Piyashi Debroy, Scientist (Economics) briefed the farmer about prospect and opportunity for Ornamental fish cultivation. The speech of different scientists was followed by a farmer – scientist’s interaction which was then followed by the distribution of agricultural inputs (seeds) and folders/ leaflets related to agricultural practices and allied. The program then concluded by a vote of thanks from the Headman of Raliang village.
