Empowerment of tribal farmers of East and West Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh under TSP
Basar 26-05-2017: One day awareness cum training programme was conducted by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar, under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) at Pasighat in collaboration with CHF, CAU on 9th May 2017 and at Aalo on 23rd May 2017 jointly with department of Agriculture and Horticulture Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. During the programmes, the Head ICAR Basar, Dr H. Kalita delivered lecture on aims and objectives of TSP and importance of use of bio-pesticides. Addressing the occasion at Pasighat, Dr A.K. Pandey, Dean CHF, CAU Pasighat reiterated the significance of organic farming and encouraged the farmers for efficient utilization of inputs provided to them by ICAR. At Aalo, the Deputy Director Agriculture and the District Horticulture Officer, Aalo suggested the farmers for judicious use of inputs and available resources especially for organic agriculture in Arunachal Pradesh. During the occasions, Dr Doni Jini, Scientist Vety. Ext, delivered lecture on scientific livestock and poultry production under climate change scenario, Dr Anup Chandra, Scientist Entomology, highlighted the importance of vermicomposting and Shri T Angami, Scientist Horticulture gave detail presentation on scientific ginger cultivation. Around 30 progressive farmers from Dambuk circle (East Siang) and Aalo (West Siang) attended the respective programmes. After technical sessions, inputs like ginger rhizomes, bio-pesticides, poultry feeder and waterer were distributed to the farmers.
