Awareness Programme on Scientific Management of Fall Army Worm at Khanduli Village on the 22nd May, 2019
An Awareness Programme on "Scientific Management of Fall Armyworm in Maize Production", was jointly organized by the District Agriculture Office, Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jaintia Hills; West Jaintia Hills District on the 22nd May 2019 at Khanduli Village. The programme was organized following proven reports of infestation of fall army worn in maize growing regions of the district.
Dr. DM Firake, Senior Scientist (Entomology), ICAR for NEH Rregion, Umiam was the resource person at the programme. The resource person gave a detailed presentation about the biology and morphology of the pest and stressed on its management practices. A demonstration on some management practices and an interactive session was also facilitated alongside the programme.
Altogether, 150 farmers benefitted during the programme. Literatures related to the management of fall armyworm were also distributed to the farmers along with biopesticides and pheromone traps.
