Assam Hill Goats distributed to Tribal Farmers by KVK Ri-bhoi.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ri-Bhoi distributed 8 numbers of Assam Hill Goats under TDC component of NICRA Project to 4 numbers of selected farmers (2 goats per farmer) from the NICRA adopted village Kyrdem on 4th March 2017. The goats were distributed with an objective to encourage the farmers to adopt Goat farming at the village level to generate employment for rural masses. Dr. Mokidul Islam, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Ri-Bhoi interacted with the farmers during the programme and explained that goat farming ensures more economic return in a short period as goats give birth three times in two years and often give birth to twins. He also explained that Goat manure is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and is excellent manure for agricultural production.
