Annual Review Meeting of AICRP on Poultry Breeding
Umiam, 23rd Aug: Two days Annual Review Meeting of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Poultry Breeding and Poultry Seed Project (PSP) was inaugurated today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya. This AICRP was formulated by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi with the objective to boost the rural poultry production in the country. Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. J. K. Jena graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He urged upon the scientists to work hard to achieve the “Doubling Farmers Income” dream of honourable Prime Minister of India. Other dignitaries present during the occasion were Dr. R. S. Gandhi, ADG (AP&B), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. A. Sharma, Director, ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetics Resources, Karnal and Dr. S. Rajkhowa, Director, ICAR-NRC on Pig, Guwahati who emphasized the role and need of poultry production in the region and the country as a whole. Moreover, the Nodal Coordinating unit Director, Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad, expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the centres located in different states of the northeastern region.
Earlier, Dr. N. Prakash, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. Centre in-charges of 24 AICRP and PSP centres covering different states of the country are participating in the review meeting. During these two days, the performance of different centres will be reviewed and future strategies will be formulated for overall improvement of poultry production in the country. This will benefit the poultry farmers at large.
