Annual Zonal Workshop of KVKs – Zone V organized

The Annual Zonal Workshop for the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-V (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra) was organized at, Baramati, Pune during 29th September to 1st October, 2014.
Dr. P. S. Minhas, Director, National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati inaugurated the workshop. While speaking as Chief Guest, he emphasized on importance of KVKs in dissemination of agricultural technologies for welfare of the farming community. He also stressed the need of integrated farming for sustainability in the changing climate scenario.
Shri Rajendra Pawar, Chairman, Agricultural Development Trust, Baramati, spoke on the activities of ADT in the field of agriculture and education.
Dr. K. D. Kokate, Director of Extension Education, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri talked on Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture. He also made a presentation on innovative extension methods.
Dr.N.Sudhakar, Zonal Project Director, Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-V, Hyderabad presented the achievements of KVKs during 2013-14 and highlighted various initiatives taken by ICAR. He advised participants to identify innovative farmers in their operational area and possible upscaling their innovations.
Dr. P. B. Kale, Director, Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization, Wardha spoke on development of small scale industries in rural areas for entrepreneurship development.
The dignitaries released 15 publications from ZPD and KVKs during the workshop.
Directors of Extension Education of SAUs of the region; Directors of ICAR Institutes; Scientists of ZPD V and Programme Coordinators of KVKs of Zone V participated in the workshop.
Dr. Syed Shakir Ali, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Baramati presented the vote of thanks.
