KVK Anjaw organized successfully his 1st Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting

 

Scientific Advisory Committee meeting was conducted by KVK Anjaw on 26th  March, 2016 at DC Conference Hall, Tezu Lohit District. The meeting was hosted by Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, AP Centre, Basar, Smt. M. Riba, DC Anjaw and Shri. B. Tawsik, ADC Hayuliang with the presence of all the state line department officials ADO, DFO, DVO, Project Director, DRDO, CO, Chaglagam and SDO, Tezu along with progressive farmers from Chamengliang. The meeting was started  with  welcome  address by Manish Kanwat, Senior  Scientist  and  Head,  KVK  Anjaw.  He highlighted the journey and activities done during the last eleven months. He also remarked that as Anjaw district is horticulture bound, promotion of horticulture crops especially apple, kiwi and oranges should be more emphasized to increase the production as well the productivity and developed a platform for exporting to the other parts of the country.

Dr. R. Bhagawati, Joint Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, AP Centre, Basar host the meeting as Chairman and remarked that establishment of L. Cardamom nursery unit is the prime need of the hour keeping in view of the present scenario of the prevailing viral diseases that keep on spreading in maximum parts of the district. He also emphasized for collection of local indigenous pulse and cereals crop for registration under PPVFR Act, 2001 to conserve the identity of the crops under the district.

Smt. M. Riba, Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner, Anjaw, graced the meeting as the Chief Guest. She praised the activities done by the KVK within the short period of time and also promised to extent all possible help for establishing the KVK in the district. She also stressed on importance of collection of local indigenous crop available and conserve their genes. She also encourage the KVK Anjaw to work at their level best and attain a status for supplying of quality planting materials of L. Cardamom shortly in the district.

B. Tawsik, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Hayuliang also graced the meeting as Guest of Honour in the meeting. He stated that indigenous cultivation method which our forefather have been practicing in the district should not be neglected eventhough the scientific method may be superior in the present era and it should go side by side to expand the area under the indigenous crops available in the district. He also requested to all the line department and other organization to join hands and work on synergy mode for the welfare of the farming community of the district.

 

Dr. R. Bhagawati, Joint Director , ICAR AP Centre, Basar has also imparted training on Agromet Advisory Services during this SAC meeting for creating an awareness about the importance of weather and how the farmers will fetch the benefits through the weakly advisory service to farming community. In this context, he also stressed the all the Agricultural Line department should also be able to fetch the benefits of that services.
