Training on protected cultivation technology.

 

Hayuliang: One- day training on “Protected Cultivation Technology” through construction of low cost greenhouses was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Anjaw on 24th August’2015 at Tafraliang village in Anjaw district. Altogether, 40 farmers were present in the training. The training started with the welcome note addressed by Prasanta Mahanta, Farm Manager, KVK Anjaw. He threw light on the importance and various functioning of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in rural areas, right from the training conduction to valuable suggestions by the specialists to the farmers.

Er. Uday Bhandari, SMS, Soil & Water Conservation Engineering, delivered a lecture on importance of protected cultivation technology through construction of greenhouses, right from the site selection, orientation and structural preparation to installation of polythene film, using power point presentation. He explained that in the prevailing economic condition, where capital is a scarce input, the choice often favours low initial investment greenhouses. Bamboo wood as a structural member in association with UV stabilized transparent polythene film is a common option selected by greenhouse designers. He said that earlier results showed greenhouses as an important tool for high income generation from small holdings, especially in rural areas.
