Training Programme organized at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)

         Three day training programme on “Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Women Farmers through Agricultural Interventions” was organized for tribal women farmers of Purangang village, Mawtnum village and Joigang village of Marngar cluster, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya w.e.f. 16th -18th March’2021 under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). A total of 32 nos. of trainees participated in this training programme. Inputs in the form of summer vegetable seeds, honey bee box, biopesticides, poultry chicks and veterinary medicines were distributed among the trainees. The programme was coordinated by Dr. B. Bhattacharjee (Principal Scientist & HOD, Division of Crop Science), Dr. Meena Das (Senior Scientist), Dr. Sandip Patra (Scientist) and other staffs of the Institute. Training manual and extension folders are also distributed among the trainees. The farmers were apprised of different agricultural technologies on organic farming, use of Jalkund and use of quality planting material for their farms. They were also made aware of different infectious diseases, breeding, housing, feeding strategies, deworming, vaccination etc in livestock and poultry.
