Training Programme Organised under the S.T Component of Poultry Seed Project

         A two-days training programme on “Rural Poultry Farming for Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farmers in Meghalaya” under the S.T Component of Poultry Seed Project was organised on 9th and 10th March, 2021 by the Division of Animal and Fisheries Sciences, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya. A total of 100 tribal farmers, comprising eight villages in Ri-Bhoi and four villages in East Khasi Hills districts of Meghalaya were selected and attended the training programme. The farmers were trained on scientific management of rural poultry farming through theoretical and practical demonstration. On successful completions of the training, the farmers were provided with Vanaraja chicks, feed, drinkers, feeders and basic poultry medicines. During the valedictory session of the programme, attended by all the scientists and staff of the division, the famers expressed their happiness and gratitude to the institute for conducting such training programme and requested to conduct more such programme in the future. The training course was Co-ordinated by Dr. Sunil Doley, Principal Scientist and Dr. Sourabh Deori, Scientist under Dr. K.K. Baruah, Principal Scientist and Head as Course Advisor.
