Three Days Training Programme on “Capacity Building of Farmers Through Production of Ginger and Turmeric for Their Livelihood Improvement’’ Conducted under AICRP on Spices at ICAR-RC-NEH, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib

ICAR-RC-NEH, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib successfully organized three days training programme on “Capacity building of farmers through production of ginger and turmeric for their livelihood improvement” on dated 01st, 03rd  and 05th October, 2020 under AICRP on Spices. The objective of the training programme was to impart hands on training for capacity buildings of farmers through ginger and turmeric cultivation and enhancing farmers’ income by adopting processing and value addition of ginger and turmeric. All together 25 farmers from Thingdawl, Kolasib attended the training programme. Dr. Lalhruaipuii, Scientist Vetenary Microbiology, ICAR-RC-NEH Region inaugurated the training programme and expressed the scope and importance of ginger and Turmeric cultivation  and processing and value addition. Dr. Vishambhar Dayal, Scientist (Horticulture) gave lecture on production technology of ginger and turmeric, use of mulching, preparation of different product, important and scope of processing and value addition. Mr. Sunil Kumar Sunani, Scientist (Plant Pathology) gave the lecture on bio-intensive pest management of turmeric and ginger, integrated disease management of ginger and turmeric. Dr. Lungmuana, Scientist (Soil Science) gave a lecture on "Composting Techniques for enhancing nutrient management".  The programme was coordinated by Dr. Vishambhar Dayal, Scientist (Horticulture) and Mr. Sunil Kumar Sunani, Scientist (Plant Pathology).
