Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) stressed upon strengthening coordination among different stakeholders/ institutes

 

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) along with Shri S. K Singh, Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, DARE/ICAR visited ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya during the Review Interactive Meet with the Finance Heads of ICAR Institutes of East Zone held at Umiam on 13th May 2016. The meeting was also attended by Dr.  A.K. Vasisht, ADG (PIM), Shri Devendra Kumar, Director (Finance) and DDFs from ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region along with Directors/ Finance Officers of 23 different institutes of Eastern Zone. Review discussions were held in regard to the financial progress of the institutes under the chairmanship of Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR).

On 14th May, 2016, Hon’ble Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra during his interaction with scientists and staff of the institute said that North Eastern region, endowed with a rich bio-diversity; is the epicenter of second green revolution. Hence, the scientists should act upon promptly to prepare plan of action for better utilization of the umpteen natural resources of the region for the benefit of the farming community. He stressed upon strengthening coordination among different stakeholders/ institutes in agriculture and allied sectors through regular interface. Later, DG (ICAR) emphasized on the role of social media to reach a large number of farmers within a short span of time with more effect. Highlighting the importance of research on climate change as a perspective for tomorrow’s agriculture, DG also urged the scientists to work with a missionary zeal for the upliftment of NEH agriculture and to involve the KVKs for the popularization of the growth promoting technologies relevant to the region. Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umaim, Meghalaya briefed the research activities of the institute through field and laboratory visits. During this occasion Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Hon’ble Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) accompanied by his wife Mrs. Kalpana Mohapatra inaugurated the “Rongali Bihu Utsab” in the residential premises of the institute.
