National Dairy Mela at Karnal

National Dairy Mela’ (25-27 February, 2015) is being organized at ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, which was inaugurated by Mr. D.V. Suresh Kumar, General Manager, State Bank of Patiala, Chandigarh.He said that‘DairyMela’ aims to showcase the latest agricultural technologies developed at national level among farmers, dairy entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. Such activities bring farmers in close association with scientists and farmers are greatly benefited by participating in such events by gaining the up-to-date knowledge on different aspects of dairying at a common platform.

 

 

Dr. R.K. Malik, Joint Director (Research), NDRI informed that large numbers of visitors including the progressive dairy farmers, farm women and dairy entrepreneurs from different states of the country are participating in Mela. He appreciated the role of women in the development of dairy in India.

 

Dr. D.K. Gosain, Convener of the Mela, informed that progressive dairy farmers of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have brought their best animals for competitions under different categories/ age groups. He also informed that there are nearly 100 exhibition stalls in the Mela to present their latest products, tools and machinery related to dairy, feed processing, animal healthcare and allied agricultural activities.

ICAR institutes at Karnal, such as NBAGR, CSSRI and IARI Regional Centre etc. are also participating in the Dairy Mela. Faculty, staff and students of NDRI and participating institutes were also present on the occasion.
