ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya organized Training Programme at Mawphrew village, Ri-Bhoi, Megahalaya under ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav’ Programme

 

One day training programme on “Livelihood Improvement Programme Through Agricultural Interventions” especially “Backyard Poultry Farming” was organized under the visionary programme of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (My Village, My pride)” by Group-III, funded by Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). To promote backyard poultry farming with improved breeds, two hundred (200) Kuroiler chicks (3 weeks old) were distributed among 30 trainees of Mawphrew village, Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya on 23rd February’2016. Inputs in the form of veterinary medicines such as deworming drugs, vitamins and mineral supplements were also distributed. In this occasion one extension folder in Khasi language entitled ‘Backyard Poultry Farming (Ka jingri syiar ha kper iing)’ was distributed to the trainees. They were made aware of different parasitic diseases as well as other aspects of poultry health management. The farmers were also advised to do regular deworming and vaccination of their birds.
