ICAR-KVK West Siang conducted three (3) days training programme for Tribal farmerscollaboration with ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar

Arunachal Pradesh is one of the most backward state of North Eastern Region and climatic diverse risk prone area. West Siang district is one of the biggest district of the state. Tribal people (Galo community) are prevailing in the West Siang district and their livelihood depend on agriculture. Keeping the view in mind, ICAR-KVK, West Siang conducted three (21st -23rd June, 2017) days training programme on livelihood improvement of tribal farmers through technological interventions. The main objective of the training was to build the capacity among participants through intervention of improved agricultural technologies. The total participants was 20 nos. of farm women from three different Self Help Groups (SHGs), Namely Hannah SHG, Chidum SHG & Pajo SHG. The inaugural session started with registration of the participants and welcome address given by the Dr. H. Kalita, JD (I/C), ICAR-RC for NEHR, Arunachal Pradesh Centre followed by Dr. C.S. Raghav, Sr. Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, West Siang. On the first & second day, technical session started with the lecture given by the different scientists/ SMSs (Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil, Home Science, and Veterinary Science etc.) in different themes (starting from seed production, mushroom cultivation, vermicomposting, value addition, poultry, piggery, rabbitary farming to marketing ). On the 3rd day, 23rd June, 2017 the programme started with the Research-Extension-Farmers interface meeting with presence of different line department officers for solving the problem of farmers. The programme facilitator was Mr. Debashis Datta, SMS (Agril. Extension) evaluate the participants’ knowledge through pre and post evaluation process. At the end of the programme, participants received certificate and some agricultural inputs from the competent authority.
