ICAR-CIRCOT Organized Training on Basics of Nanotechnology and its Application

ICAR-Central Institute of Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai organized a three-daytraining programme on “Basics of Nanotechnology and its Application” (8-12 December, 2014).

 

 

Dr. C.D. Mayee, Former Chairman, ASRB speaking as Chief Guest of valedictory function emphasized  the  need  for  nano  technological  intervention  in  agriculture,  nutrients  and pesticide formulation to improve the input use efficiency and to reduce their requirements, so that the cost of production will be reduced by which farmers will be benefitted.

Dr. A.J. Shaikh, Former Director,  ICAR-CIRCOT was present as Guest of Honour. He appreciated the training programme and suggested that CIRCOT should organise a National Seminar on ‘Application of Nanotechnology in Agriculture’ so that large number of stakeholders will be aware of the various applications of this newly emerged technology.

Dr. P.G. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT welcomed dignitaries and briefed about the involvement of this institute in the field of nanotechnology and the efforts taken to popularize this technology in agriculture and allied subjects.

Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Senior Scientist and Course Director briefed about this training programme  and  the  future  possibilities  in  continuing  the  relationship  by  collaborative research work, contract research and various other modes based on mutual understanding.

Twelve participants from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra attended this programme; among which, two were from industries and ten are from research/academia.
