KVK Anjaw conducted FLD on “Nutritional garden”

 

Knowing about different foods and having healthy eating habits, really affect a child’s performance, achievement and overall success. Since eating habits are adopted early in life, childhood is a good time to learn about nutrition. Whereas the children of Anjaw district are not getting enough nutrition, as many of their parents are uneducated and are not aware of nutritional diets and above this the locational disadvantage of this district creates hindrance for vegetable supply.

So keeping this in mind, KVK Anjaw conducted FLD on nutritional garden at Govt. Sec. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya School, Supliang and VKV School, Amliang with the objective of creating awareness and educating the concept of balance diet to the children.

The resource person Ms Rebecca Eko, SMS Horticulture gave a lecture through power point presentation and demonstrated the concept, importance and benefits of nutritional garden, designing a low cost garden, its preparation and maintenance. Seeds of rabi season crops were provided. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, coriander and laipatta were encouraged for regular consumption. The students along with the teachers were practically demonstrated the techniques and procedures to be followed for building a nutritional garden.
