Exposure visits of women army officers at ICAR RC for NEH Region

 

An exposure visit of women army officers was organized at ICAR RC for NEH Region on 20th May 2016. 26 women army officers in the cadre of Major to Captain led by two senior officers participated in the programme. They have come from different parts of India to participate in a training conducted in Umroi Cantt. During the visit, the officers were exposed to the improved technology of agriculture, horticulture and livestock developed in ICAR RC for NEH Region which can be popularized in the region. A detailed discussion on the on-farm and off-farm activities such as mushroom, beekeeping, floriculture and other enterprises that can be taken up in the military unit campuses in the North East was done. The officers showed keen interest in the income generating activities and were in high favour of collaboration with ICAR in organizing trainings for the Jawans as well as the housewives in different specialized areas as per the requirements. The officers were taken to experimental farms, laboratories and other facilities of the institute where they interacted with subject matter specialists. The programme was coordinated by Dr. A. K. Tripathi, Head, Social Sciences Division, ICAR RC for NEH Region and assisted by Miss Anjoo Yumnam, scientist, Social Sciences Division.

Women army officers from differrent parts of India visiting ICAR RC for NEH Region
