Visit of Dr S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR toCRURRS (CRRI), Hazaribag

Dr S Ayyappan Secretary, DARE and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, visited Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station, Hazaribag on 26th August,2014. He saw the on-going experiments in the fields and research facilities including Biotechnology Laboratory. While interacting with the Scientists, he expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of the research station. He called for greater efforts for developing national & international linkages and focus on farmers’ centric research. He also advised for (i) further modernization of laboratories, and (ii) human resource development to meet the extant and emerging research needs.  Dr Mukund Variar, Officer-in-Charge, Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station welcomed the DG and other dignitaries and gave an overview of mandate and achievements of the research Station. He also briefed about the available facilities and human resources in scientific, technical and administrative categories.

Dr S K Datta, DDG (Crop Science), Dr AK Sikka, DDG, NRM & Agril Extension, Dr J S Chauhan, ADG (Seed), Dr R Ramani, Director IINRG, Ranchi, Dr B P Bhatt, Director, ICAR Res. Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Dr A K Singh, Zonal PD, ICAR (Zone II) and Dr R P Ratan, Director Extension & I/c VC, BAU, Ranchi accompanied the DG during this visit. Dr Variar expressed sincere thanks to DG, ICAR and all the dignitaries for visiting CRURRS and assured to take appropriate measures to address the suggestions that emerged out of the interaction.
