Training on the Scientific Cultivation of Large Cardamom Held

 

A one day long training programme was organized by ICAR, KVK Anjaw on “The scientific cultivation package of practices on Large Cardamom” at Hamaliang village under Hayuliang circle on 28th August 2017. A total numbers of 34 farmers (both men and women) attended the training programme. The course co-ordinator Ms Rebecca Eko, SMS Horticulture emphasized on the practice of scientific cultivation of large cardamom instead of its traditional open cultivation. She encouraged them to adopt certain measures such as use of quality planting materials, maintaining proper shade management, adopting phytosanitory measures, providing adequate irrigation during dry period, supply of organic inputs and proper postharvest management. The farmers were also given awareness on the deadly viral diseases “Chirkey and Foorkey” and its preventive measures.

Dr. Senpon Ngomle, SMS, Plant Pathology aware the farmers of the soil borne and fungal diseases affecting Large Cardamom plantation and also gave them its remedial measures.
