KVK West Siang imparted training to 31 farmers

A one day multi-disciplinary training programme was conducted today, on 29th January, 2016 by KVK West Siang, ICAR Complex, Basar, Arunachal Pradesh at Pagi village about 7 Km away from the Basar Town. All together 31 farmers including rural youth and farm women participated in the training programme. The programme was initiated with the welcome address by Dr. C. S. Raghav, Programme Coordinator, KVK West Siang where he explained the farmers about role of KVK for the farming communities. Dr. Moloy Sarmah Baruah, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) enlightened the farmers in his lecture on the topic of “Techniques of increasing productivity of pigs through scientific intervention for rural farmers.” Dr. Rita Nongthombam, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding) explained the farmers about “Truthfully level seed production”. Miss Wangnem Rekhung, Programme Assistant (Soil Science) gave a lecture on the topic “Integrated Nutrient Management.” The programme was concluded with a farmer’s scientist interaction session on the topics of livestock and poultry farming, improvement of field crops and its management.

After the training a farmer’s field visit was also conducted by the scientists of KVK to know the actual status of their crops and livestock. During the field visit skin diseases and worm infestation related diseases of swine also diagnosed and accordingly treatment was advocated to the farmers.
