World Soil Health Day observed by KVK Anjaw at Khupa, Anjaw district.

It’s a known fact that, soil is the foundation of agriculture. Without it, we cannot survive, as the food we eat (95%) comes from the soil. It is a finite natural resource, the food we eat is directly related to the health of the soil in which it grows. But in recent times, due to increasing pollution, the soil’s quality is degrading. Hence, to create awareness & promoting the importance of soil quality for food security, healthy ecosystems and human well-being, ICAR KVK Anjaw observed & celebrated the World Soil Health Day on the 5th of December 2018 at its campus at Khupa, Anjaw District, Arunachal Pradesh. Altogether, 31 farmers attended the programme. The course coordinator, Ms. Rebecca Eko SMS (Horticulture) welcomed the farmers from different villages i.e. Huiliang, Walong, Kibithoo, Hawai, Manchal, Chaglagam and Metengliang. She further delivered a lecture on the importance of soil & its need for its immediate conservation. Altogether a total of about 76 soil health cards were distributed by KVK Anjaw in the month of October and November. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Keshab Ch. Gogoi, Programme Assistant (Computer Science). At the end of the programme, seeds and organic insecticides were distributed to the participants.
