KVK celebrated World Soil day at Doubling farmer Income Adopted village

 

KVK Anjaw observed Soil Health Day, on 5th Dec. 2015 at Tafraliang Middle School, Tafraliang the adopted village for Doubling Farmer income. The session was started with welcome address by Dr. Tilling Tayo, SMS, (Vet. Sc. KVK Anjaw). S. Bhattacharya, ADO, Anjaw grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Ph. G. Singh (SVO), Khasa Gam G.B. Tafraliang and Gringreso Ama, GPM Tafraliang and 44 farmers from Tafraliang, Chuga Hoiliang also witnessed the programme.

Khoisnam Naveen, SMS (Agronomy) delivered a lecture on the importance of Soil Health Card and its uses in agricultural production. He further informed the farmers on how to take the soil sample for future analysis as retesting of soil will be done at every three years of interval to update the current soil status.

S. Bhattacharya, ADO, Anjaw asked the participant farmers to make use of Soil Heath Card in order to excel the crop production in the district and help them for making self-sufficient and self-reliant in the food security. He also stressed on the farmer for growing high value crops like Saffron for higher income of the farmer.

On the occasion of World Soil Day, KVK Anjaw distributed 152 Soil Health Card to the farmers of Tafraliang.
