Training Cum Demonstration conducted by KVK West Siang

 

Basar, the 23rd June, 2015 :

A one day training programme on “Vermi-composting-A Means for Sustainable Soil Fertility” was conducted by KVK West Siang at Regi Village with 24 nos. of participants. The team comprised of Mr A. Kirankumar Singh,i/c Programme Coordinator, Dr K. Suraj Singh, SMS (Plant Protection), Miss Wangnem Rekhung, Programme Assistant (Soil Science) and Mr Karyom Bam, SRF(TDC-NICRA). During the programme, Dr K. Suraj Singh, SMS (Plant Protection) delivered his lecture in details about the procedure of laying HDPE Vermibed and different processes for successful production. Dr Singh, stressed the importance of vermi-compost for sustainable production of crops with the application of vermin-compost and sustainable soil fertility management. During his deliberation, Mr A. Kirankumar Singh, i/c Programme Coordinator drew the attention of the participants for taking up vermi-composting as a means of income generation for their livelihood improvement and assured them of further technical guidance as and when required. Lastly, a hand on demonstration programme was conducted with the release of earthworm in the vermibed and care and maintenance procedures have been practically shown to them by Dr Singh. The participants were of the view that the establishment of a vermi-composting unit will be a good step for sustainable soil fertility management for enhanced production and productivity of crops.
