Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Urged Scientists to Develop Farmer Friendly Technologies

Shri Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, visited ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Tripura Centre at Lembucherra, West Tripura. He appreciated the Center for undertaking research and developmental works for the benefit of the farmers and suggested to conduct research in favor of bringing about low- cost, eco- friendly agricultural technologies for the region. He released a book on soil health card by Joint Director of ICAR Research Complex, Tripura Centre and emphasized the importance of such soil health card’s. Minister distributed seeds of various crops, mango saplings, mushroom spawn, fish yearlings, poultry birds and piglets among the farmers. He also laid the foundation stone of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Pigs at ICAR livestock farm. This project has been launched to investigate the performance of Tripura local Mali pigs and improve their  performance through crossbreeding programme, nutritional technologies etc. Minister inaugurated ‘Technology Showcase and Farmers’ Meet’.

 

 

 

Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Meghalaya expressed his gratitude to the Minister and addressed the gathering with a precise description of ICAR activities in operation across the region.

Earlier the Dr. M. Datta, Joint Director of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre, welcomed the dignitaries and participant. He narrated in brief the achievements of ICAR, Tripura centre implemented in farmers’ field during last few years.

More than 500 participants including dignitaries, scientists, staff of ICAR and 400 farmers from different districts of Tripura participated in the event .
