3 Days Training Programme On “Popularization of Raised & Sunken Bed Technology for Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farmers at Mizoram” Under Tribal Sub Plan.

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Mizoram Centre organized three training programme on “Popularization of raised & sunken bed technology for livelihood improvement of tribal farmers at Mizoram’’ on 10th-12th August 2015 at Saihapuii (Kolasib District), Mizoram. All total 35 famers attended the training.

Session 1:
Foremost lecture has delivered by Dr. Sudip Kumar. Dutta, Scientist (Horticulture) on “Production technology of different horticultural crops in raised and sunken bed technology”. Later on, Dr. Saurav Saha, Scientist (Agril. Physics) delivered lecture on “Raised and sunken bed technology- A potential option to increase farm productivity in Mizoram”. The last lecture was delivered by Mr. Samik Chowdhury, Technical Officer (GKMS) on “Weather based agro-advisory services to manage weather aberrations for better productivity using the raised and sunken bed technology”.

Session 2:
In the second day the foremost lecture has delivered by Dr. Y. Ramakrishna (Farm Manager, In charge - Agronomy) on “Package of practices for rice cultivation in raised and sunken bed technology”. Dr. A.R. Kumar Singh (Scientist, Plant Pathology) delivered his lecture on “Disease management schedule in different agricultural and horticultural crops in raised and sunken bed technology”. The last lecture was given by Mr. Samik Chowdhury (Technical Officer, GKMS) on the topic “Insect pest management in different agricultural and horticultural crops in raised and sunken bed technology”.

Session 3:
In the final day foremost lecture was delivered by Dr. Lungmuana (Scientist, Soil Science) on “Soil testing and nutrient management to improve crop productivity in raised and sunken bed technology”. Second lecture was delivered by Dr. N. Manoranjan Singh, Senior Research Fellow (NICRA) in the topic “Livestock management to improve farm productivity”. The last lecture has taken by Dr. S. B. Singh (Joint Director, ICAR- Mizoram Centre) in the topic “Farmers’ friendly technologies of Mizoram”.

At the end Dr. S. B Singh (Joint Director, ICAR Mizoram Centre) took feedback from the farmers. VCP extend his hearty thanks Joint Director, and all the ICAR personnel for conducting 3 days training programme in the village with the hope for future cooperation in the coming days.
