Training Programme conducted by KVK Anjaw on Establishment of Nursery and Nursery management on cole crops at Anjaw

 

A one day training programme on “Establishment of Nursery and Nursery Management on Cole Crop” was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anjaw on 20th September’2015 at Tafraliang village in Anjaw district. Altogether, 40 farmers attended the training programme, among which majority were women folk. The main objective of the training was to encourage and popularize the cultivation of cole crops through proper nursery management. Mr. Senpon Ngomle, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), welcomed the participants and briefed the gathering about the importance of organizing this training.

Miss Rebecca Eko, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), coordinator of the training programme delivered her lecture in details about the establishment of nursery and its management. All nursery components such as nursery bed preparation, soil treatment, methods of sowing, essential operations in nursery raising, aftercare, etc. were elaborated. She emphasized the farmers to practice vegetable farming to meet the shortage of demand that occurs usually during landslides, causing blockade leading to unavailability of the vegetables in the region.

The training was then closed by a vote of thanks given by Smti. Babli Chaiton, SSA teacher, Tafraliang Middle School in local dialogue.
