One day programme was organized by the Division of Livestock Production, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Barapani on the success inputs distribution under TSP.

 

Celebration on success, feedback and inputs distribution programme was held on 27thNovember 2014 under Tribal Sub-Plan. The programme was organized Livestock Production Division of the ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Barapani. A total of 77 tribal farmers are participated in the program, in which 17 successful farmers and 60 trained farmers on pig and poultry production under TSP.  It is the first time thepig and poultry farms were successfully multiplied and return the improved piglets and poultry eggs under the TSP. The farmers were provided improved variety of piglets and poultry chicks along with critical inputs and technological support under TSP during the years 2012-13. The each successful farmer also briefed the success, feedback and economic benefits of the program for benefit of the other trained farmers.  During the function the chairman of the session, Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director of the institute appreciated the scientist for the successful implementation of the progrmme and he pointed out that it is first time the happy farmers are returning the germ plasm which was provided by institute earlier.  For further expansion of the program, the Director of the institutedistributed the returned pig and poultry germ plasm to other trained tribal farmers. He also urges upon the importance and need of meat and milk process unit for production of value added pork and milk products, which provide employment to rural educated youth and entrepreneurship development in the region.Dr. A. Sen, Head of Animal Health division briefed the importance of the animal health cover and management in the traditional pig and poultry production in the rural area of Meghalaya.Earlier Dr.G. Kadirvel, Senior Scientist and organizer of the program welcome the dignitaries, briefed the objectives and details of the programme.The scientists and technical officers of livestock Production and Animal Health divisions were participated in the program. Finally Dr. Sunil Doley Senior Scientist of the division proposed the vote of thanks.
